dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of employee engagement in the Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) Gondar district. In this study, job characteristics, reward and recognition, perceived organizational support, training and development, and leadership style were tested for their predictive role on employee engagement. The researcher adopted a quantitative research approach with descriptive and explanatory research design. Hence, the data was collected from a total of 231 employees of EEU Gondar district included in the study selected using stratified and simple random sampling technique. Both primary and secondary data source were used. Primary data was collected from sample of respondents of the study through self- administered questionnaire. Whereas secondary data was collected from books, articles, thesis etc. The data collected was analyzed through descriptive, correlation, & regression analysis using SPSS Version 25 software. The correlation analysis result showed that job characteristics, training and development, and reward & recognition have a strong positive relationship with employee engagement. However leadership style has low positive relationship with employee engagement. The finding of the study using a multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the independent variables (job characteristics, reward and recognition, perceived organizational support, training and development) have positively predicted employee engagement. However leadership style had insignificant positive impact on employee engagement. Based on the findings, the researcher forwarded recommendations and future research directions. en_US
