Abstract:
Introduction: Teleconferencing involves real-time audio or audiovisual communication between two or
more participants. Although often associated with modern technology, teleconferencing is a concept that
has existed for decades and continues to evolve, particularly in the health sciences field. It plays a crucial
role in facilitating knowledge exchange and professional development among healthcare providers, who
must continuously update their skills and understanding of new treatment methods and emerging diseases.
Therefore, this study aims to assess healthcare providers’ intention to use teleconferencing for capacitybuilding
training and to identify associated factors within public health facilities.

Objective: The objective of this study is to assess the intention to use teleconferencing for capacitybuilding
training and identify predictors among healthcare providers working on public health facilities in
Gondar City, Northwest Ethiopia, in 2025.
Methods: An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among a sample of 924 healthcare
providers working in public health facilities in Gondar City, selected using a simple random sampling
technique. Data were entered using Epi Data version 4.7 and analyzed with Stata version 17 for descriptive
statistics, including frequencies and percentages. The relationships between exogenous and endogenous
variables were examined and validated using structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS version 26.
Result: The response rate was 894/924 (96.7%) of them 50.56% (452/894) were male and 34.12%
(305/894) of participants were nurses. The proportion of intention to use teleconference was 59.40%
(531/894) with 95%: CI: (56.13% - 62.57%) The SEM analysis has shown that performance expectancy (β
=0.248, P<0.01), hedonic motivation (β =0.308, P<0.01), computer literacy (β =0.106, P<0.05) and habit (β
=0.155, P<0.01) had a positive direct relationship with intention to use teleconference. However, it had no
significant relationship with effort expectancy, facilitating condition and social influence. Gender was also a
moderator in the relationship of performance expectancy with intention to use teleconference.
Conclusion: Nearly (59.40%) of Health care providers in Gondar City public Health Facilities has the
intention to use teleconference. Performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, computer literacy and habit
were statistically significant factors of intention to use teleconference
