Analysis of Job Performance of Development Agent’s in Enhancing Agricultural Extension
Services: The Case of Beyeda District, North Gondar Zone, Ethiopia.
This research was conducted in North Gondar zone Beyeda district within the major objective to
identify the level of job performance of development agents in enhancing agricultural extension
services, specifically identifying factors that affect the performance of development agents and
challenges of development agents in delivery of extension service the study area. In order to
achieve, the objectives of the study both qualitative and quantitative data were collected from
primary and secondary data sources. The primary data were collected from136 development
agents using questionnaire and key informant interview. Descriptive statistics have been used to
analyze data. In addition, multiple linear regression model was employed to analyze factors that
influence performance of development agents. The effect of explanatory variable was
hypothesized. The results revealed that, the overall job performance of development agents was
found 0.02. The result of the model also revealed that, educational level, training access,
recognition, responsibility, annual salary income, and extension contact with farmers were
significant for the job performance level of development agents. Based on research findings of
this study, to improve the job performance level of development agents’ government, nongovernment
organizations and policy makers should focus on providing interventions program |
