Abstract:
Assessment of Opportunities and Challenges for the Adoption of E-Banking Service in CBE found at Gondar
City Branches was used to perform this study. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of
E-banking in the financial services of the commercial bank of Ethiopia with regard to the opportunities and
obstacles that can be gained from the system's adoption. The researcher employed a primary data collection
tool. Closed-ended questionnaires were available. The study also highlighted the benefits that a bank receives
from offering e-banking services. A descriptive analysis was used to examine the data collection.
A quantitative approach was used to address the study questions raised by the evaluation of the body of
literature about the use of E-banking technology by the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The study's findings
showed that the following issues prevent the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Gondar town branches from
adopting and advancing e-banking technology: Lack of client knowledge; limitations in network infrastructure
and internet-related support services; low levels of computer literacy; inadequate ICT infrastructure; and a
lack of trust are all factors that contribute to the high cost of implementing E-banking. The study revealed
operational and service benefits from using and developing E-banking technology, including productivity gains,
paper work reductions, transaction cost reductions, the production of foreign currency, reliability
improvements, and error reduction. It enhances customer service, shortens lengthy lines in banking areas,
increases accessibility of bank services, fosters positive client-bank relationships, and advocates price
transparency as a benefit of the services. According to the report, banks should promote adequate ICT
infrastructure development in Ethiopia in addition to providing their staff with proper training that is ongoing,
strengthening the security of their e-banking products, and raising community knowledge of e-banking
technology. Through online and mass media advertising, as well as public exhibitions and talk shows, the bank
should also deeply educate the community about the E-banking goods and services they provide and the
advantages of using E-banking services. Additionally, the bank should launch a variety of incentive programs to
encourage the community to use the technology.
