dc.description.abstract Good governance is an essential precondition to ensure positive changes in developing nations of the world. Ethiopia has faced a number of good governance challenges and those public institutions were not so strong and institutionalized in service delivery. Moreover, the practice of good governance in service delivery system in Koldiba town selected public institutions is manifesting poor implementation of good governance principles. Therefore; the main objective of the study was to assess the practice of good governance in public service delivery in the case of selected public sectors in Kolladiba town of East Dembia Woreda. The study employed descriptive survey design and used both primary and secondary sources. The populations in this study were community member households. Therefore, sample community members were selected by simple random sampling technique. The data were collected through questionnaire and semi-structured interview. Structured standardized questionnaire was distributed to participants. The quantitative (questionnaire) data were processed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The data was analyzed using simple statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and tables. The study found that in relation to practicing of good governance Koladiba town local administration and public institutions are not working hard in building good governance to the surrounding community in provision of services. This study also indicated that, Koladiba town service provider institutions are not given awareness training or workshop concerning on their service and their service delivery system does not improved from time and also there is no effective organizational structure and process to provide good service delivery for the community/service users. Regarding the major challenges in performing good governance and service delivery system of Kolladiba town public sectors, the study found that, there was higher level of challenge by the variables of lack of resources, lack of given workshop, training or seminar, corruption, inefficiency, political interference, lack of knowledge, limitations of technical skills and less institutional practice of good governance activities. On the basis of the finding, it has been recommended that, the federal, regional, zonal and woreda government officials give emphasis to apply the principles of good governance and practices. en_US
