Assessing Stakeholders Integration in Practicing Agricultural Extension System in Selected Districts of North Gondar Zone

Abstract

There is a need for an integration of stakeholders thare dealing with agricultural development in probleidentification, planning, implementation and evaluation. Thintegration and regular share of knowledge and information among them could bring sustainable agricultural developmentHowever, these holistic approach performances were nassessed and documented for future improvement in AmhaRegion, North Gondar. In light of this, the study look into thstakeholders’ integration existed in agricultural extensiopractices in north Gondar zone, located at North of Amharegion. The objective of the study is to assess the existing stakeholders’ integration in Agricultural extension practice in thstudy area. The sampling procedure followed multi-stagsampling to draw three woredas out of 23 woredas, (one fromDega, one from woyna Dega, and one from kola were selectedpurposively). With regard to data type and source, both primaand secondary data as well as qualitative and quantitative datwere collected. In addition to respondents’ interview, focgroup discussion, key informants interview and case studies weused for qualitative data analysis. Descriptive statistics of meastandard devotions and percent was applied. For statistical teschi-square and T-test were employed. As a conclusion, thoughthe main stakeholders that has to be involved in agriculturextension practices supposed to be ample; their integration ivery weak and the majority of the organization was nparticipated regularly in all activities. At the same time, the levof Inter-organizational linkage and coordination is very weastakeholders didn’t work together to practice agriculturextension because of not giving due attention , The mandate of Coordination was give to woreda and zonal administrators Baseon our conclusion we adhered for the relevance of integration iagricultural extension practices and therefore there should bstrong integration and any responsible bodies must do tstrengthen the linkage of them, should be regular participationand strong inter-organizational linkage of stakeholders tpractice the activities of agricultural extension, every stakeholdemust give due attention and work together to practiAgricultural extension, for effective integration stakeholdemust have prepared and approved modality in to practice, feffective integration, stakeholders should be empowered andifferent mechanisms must be used for sharing information and other new practices, the coordination of stakeholders must begiven to the responsible bodies independently and stakeholdemust be participated whenever necessary in the fiscal year.
