dc.description.abstract Introduction: Metalophosphides are highly potent insecticides and rodenticides commonly used to protect stored grain and to eradicate household rodents. They are formulated as compressed discs or tablets that commonly weigh 3gm. Metalophosphides are highly toxic, cheap and easily accessible that explains why it is common cause of poisoning in developing countries. Although metal phosphide poisoning constitutes one of the main reasons why patients visit medical emergency, the treatment outcome and associated factors in Africa countries including Ethiopia is not well established. There for this study was intended to full fill the deficit of information on the treatment outcome of metal phosphide poisoning and its associated factor in our community. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate outcomes and associated factors among metalophosphide poisoning patients at University of Gondar comprehensive Hospital. F/hiwot comprehensive hospital, and , Tibebegion specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia, 2024/25. Methods: A multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted by using a standardized questioners on patients admitted with diagnosis of metalophosphide poisoning from march 2024 to January 2025 at UoGCSH, FHCSH and TGSH North west Ethiopia. Since the study population was finite all patients admitted with in the study period were included. The data was entered using EPI data version 4.6 statistical software and then was exported to stata 17 for analysis. Frequencies, proportion and summary statistics were used to describe the study population in relation to relevant variables. Bi-variate and multivariate analysis were also carried out to see the effect of each independent variable on the dependent variable. Result: A total of 205 patients were included in the study. The prevalance of unfavorable outcome was 54.61% (95% CI: 0.477-0.613). Factors associated with poor outcomes include time lapse >2hrs (AOR: 2.906(1.130-7.473); P value: 0.027), ingestion of one or more than 1 tablets (AOR:9.944(3.672.-26.925); P value: <0.001), and systolic blood pressure less than 90mmHg (AOR: 14.092(1.136-104.643); P value: 0.039)). Conclusion: This study showed that a higher rate of unfavorable outcomes among patients with metalophosphide poisoning. Delayed presentation, higher amount of the poison and having lower systolic blood pressure were associated factors. en_US
