Despite antenatal care is key factor for institutional delivery; many women who had antenatal care gave birth at home. In Ethiopia, few are known about the factors that affect women’s place of delivery after antenatal care. Objective: This study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of home delivery after antenatal care booked women In East Dembiya, District. Methods: Community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from January - March, 2023. Multistage sampling methods were used to select a total of 567 samples. Data was collected through face to face interview using pretested questionnaire. A p-value less than or equals to 0.05 at 95% Confidence Intervals of odds ratio were taken as significance level in the multivariable model.
Results: A total of 204 (36.0%) women gave birth at home. Presence of health facility within 30 minute on foot (AOR: 3.81, 95% CI: 2.29 – 6.35), family size < 3 person (AOR: 2.66, 95% CI: 1.27–5.56), number of ANC visits < 4 (AOR: 2.61, 95% CI: 1.05-6.45), poor knowledge on obstetric complications (AOR: 1.86, 95% CI: 1.12 – 3.09), husband preference for home delivery (AOR: 2.01, 95% CI: 1.19-3.39) and decision on place of delivery made by husband only or family (AOR: 2.25, 95% CI: 1.38-3.66) were factors found associated with home delivery after antenatal care.
