dc.description.abstract Abstract Introduction- Stroke has a major impact on survivors, including Health related Quality of life with a wide variety of physical and psychological problems influencing their ability to carry out activities of daily living and it is the leading cause of disability and death in the world. Stroke survivors experience a decline in their Quality of life in terms of impaired physical, mental and social health. Objective- To assess Health related quality of life and associated factors among patient with stroke at Amhara region, 2019. Method- An institutional based cross-sectional study design was used in Amhara region comprehensive, specialized hospital, from April 15 –May 31, 2019 to assess the health related Quality of Life for the people living with stroke. Data was collected by an interview using structured questionnaire, from medical chart and data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, binary and multivariate logistic regression analysis methods. P <0.05 with 95% CI was considered statistically significant analyzed was done with SPSS version 25. Results: - From the total participants 96 (53.3%) have poor HRQOL. Female patients, Ischemic stroke patients, patients that don’t get physiotherapy treatment have great contribution for poor HRQOL they account 63.5%, 76%, and 63.5% respectively The odds of female participants to be poor overall HRQOL 3.268 time that of males (AOR: 3.268 (1.588-6.725)). As well as those who is ischemic stroke were 2.586 times more likely to be poor overall HRQOL (AOR: 2.586 (1.177-5.685)) compared with hemorrhagic stroke. The odds of depressed patient and patients that doesn’t get physiotherapy treatment be poor overall HRQOL were 2.926 and 3.56 respectively Conclusion This study revealed that high percentage of the study participants were poor health related quality of life. Among patients with stroke women, depressed, and patient that is not physiotherapy treatment more likely to be poor HRQOL and this were significantly associated with poor HRQOL among patients with stroke in this study.
