dc.description.abstract Abstract Introduction: Tuberculosis is one of the leading causes of global burden of diseases. It has become a common and demanding chronic disease that has a wide range of effects on health related quality of life of physical, psychological, social and environmental domains. Therefore it is important to assess the impact of the disease from patients’ perspective and identify factors affecting health-related quality of life of patients with Tuberculosis. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the health-related quality of life and associated factors among patients with Tuberculosis at University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital Northwest Ethiopia 2019. Methods: - Institution based cross-sectional study was conducted at University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital from February –April 2019. A total of 387 patients were selected from Tuberculosis follow up clinic by using systematic random sampling technique. World health organization-quality of life short version questionnaires was used to assess quality of life. The data were entered into Epi-info 7 and analysed with SPSS version 20. Summary statstics, simple and multiple linear regression analyses were performed. Result: The mean quality of life scores of patients with tuberculosis for the environmental, physical, psychological, and social, domains were 21.2, 19.2, 17.2, and 7.8 respectively. Out of the 4 domain social domain was the most affected. Higher quality of life in tuberculosis patient was associated with occupation and medication-adherence. Lower quality of life was associated with presence of exercise and current tuberculosis type. Factors associated with domains were age, medication adherence, duration of the disease, marital status educational status, wealth index, Tubeculosis related complication, exercise, and employment status. Conclusion and recommendation: This study shows that health related quality of life of Tuberculosis patients was poor. Factors affecting health related quality of life are found to be age, medication adherence, Duration of the disease, employment status, marital status, wealth index and educational level.
