dc.description.abstract Abstract Background: According to the progressive implementation of universal health coverage health services must be delivered to the community in line with quality standards, with compassion and a respectful manner, and in a way that people find acceptable. In improving the quality of healthcare services, compassion, respect, and caring is now an issue all over the world. Objective: To improve the compassionate, respectful, and caring antenatal care service in Mertule Mar yam primary Hospital northwest of Ethiopia, 2022 Methods: Facility-based pre-post interventional study design was conducted among antenatal care mothers based on CRC in Mertule Mar yam primary Hospital from September 15/2021 up to June 15/2022. Study participants were selected using a systematic random sampling technique. The data was collected by using a structured questionnaire. The independent t-test was used. A p-value of <0.05 and a mean difference with 95 % CI was used to test the significance of the interventions. Result: The overall implementation of compassionate, respectful, and caring antenatal care service in the study was 30.3% at pre-intervention and 67.8 % (95% CI = 63.3-72.0%) in post-intervention. Interventions were designed and implemented to improve compassion, respect, and caring. Those interventions were creation of a central medical record unit, the establishment of a waiting area at antenatal care clinic, availabiling of policies and procedures, and giving health care providers CRC training. Conclusion: To improve compassionate, respectful, and caring antenatal care services, we were applying strategies like provision of training to health care providers, avail policies and procedures, establishing waiting areas at antenatal care clinics, and establishing central/conveniently located medical record unit are ways to have positive outcomes in overall compassionate, respectful, and caring performance in antenatal care services.
