dc.description.abstract Abstract Background: As part of the efforts being made to meet universal health coverage, Ethiopia plans to introduce social health insurance Objective: This study assess the affordability of the proposed social health insurance and its associated factor among public institution servants in Metekel zone, North West, Ethiopia, 2021. Methods: Institution-based cross-sectional quantitative study design was used among a randomly selected 973 public servants in Metekel zone. The survey participates were selected based on stratified random sampling method. Data was collected via structured questioner, then it was cleaned, coded and entered in to EPI data v.4.6 and exported to SPSS version 25 statistical package for analysis. Descriptive statistics used to summarize affordability of the scheme and both bivariable and multivariable logistic regression was used to examine factors driving the outcome variables. AOR with corresponding 95% CI was used to report the finding. Results The study revealed that 925 Conclusion The study revealed that affordability of social health insurance would not be a serious challenge to introduced SHI for the formal sector.
