Abstract
Background: Youth are often considered the healthiest stages of life, even if they are
at critical periods in which young people are challenged with a unique set of threats to
their health and survival such as unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion, sexually
transmitted infection including HIV. Limited access and utilization of YFHS play a role to
high mortality and morbidity due to health-related complications.
Objective: To assess youth friendly health services utilization and associated factors
among preparatory school students in Gondar city, northwest Ethiopia, 2020.
Methods: A school based cross-sectional study was conducted on students aged from
15-24 years who were available during the study period, supplemented with qualitative
approach from February 01 to March 01, 2020. Simple random stratified sampling
technique was used. Epi-data version 4.6.0.0 was used for data entry and exported to
SPSS version 20 for analysis. Descriptive statistics was used to describe variables,
Bivariable and multivariable logistic regression models were used to assess association
between independent and dependent variables. Adjusted odds ratio with 95% CI was
used to declare variables statistically significant. The qualitative data was transcribed
verbatim, typed in word, and translated back to English by the investigator.
