dc.description.abstract Abstract Background: Employee?s performance is an achievement of assigned task. When the employees? are physically and emotionally have the desire to work, then their performance outcomes shall be increased. Moreover, having a proper workplace environment can increase the employees? performance. This study was intended to measure level of employees? performance and determine its contributing factors in the regional health bureau and its direct responsible departments. Objective: The objective of this study is to assess employees? work performance and associated factors in Amhara National Regional State Health Bureau and its direct responsible departments, Bahir-Dar City, Northwest Ethiopia, 2016. Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted in Amhara National Regional State Health Bureau and its direct responsible departments. All the employees (357)were included in the study. Face-to-face self-administrated structured questionnaires were used. Data were interred into Epi-info version 3.5.1 software then exported to SPSS version 16 for further analysis using STATA transfer version 9. Descriptive analysis was done. Tables and Figures were used to present results. Binary logistic regression was computed to identify association between outcome and predictor variables. In order to minimize confounding effects backward: wald stepwise method was employed. Bivariate analyses were computed for all variables. Those variables which had p<0.20 in bivariate were transferred to multivariate analysis. Finally variable with p-value less or equal to 0.05 were considered statistically significant with 95% confidence level. Results: The level of Good performance achievement was 232(65%)[>= 76.64 the mean performance] with CI (76.2474-77.032).Employees whose salary within the category (4284-6487)were four times more likely to have good performance [AOR: 3.937, 95%CI (1.409,10.998)] compared to those earning<=1742salary. There was also a threefold positive influence [AOR: 3.065, 95% CI (1.254,7.488)] on performance who had work experience between 16 and 20 years of service. Bahir Dare Regional Health Research Laboratory Center employees were seven times more likely to have good performance [AOR: 6.765, 95%CI (2.572,17.794)] in reference to Amhara National Regional Health Bureau. Conclusion and Recommendation: Two third of the respondents had good performance achievement. Encouraged with better salary, consideringtheir work experience and making conducive place of work are recommended to achieve better organizational performance. en_US
