dc.description.abstract	Summary Background : Road Traffic Accident ([RTA) is the main cause of disability and death in the world. In Ethiopia, the rate of road traffic accidents (RTAs) is very high. In Ethiopia, road traffic injuries account for over a third of all injuries and affect all age groups across both sexes Objective: The aim of this study is To assess the magnitude of road traffic accident and associated factors in Eastern Tigray Zone Methods:-A Retrospective cross- sectional Study is planned in all the 9 weredas of the eastern zone of the Tigray National State. Data will be extracted from crash registry book road traffic accident in each of the 9 weredas of the zone retrospectively. Simple random sampling technique will be used to select 329 samples from July 8, 2011 to January 8, 2016 records. Duration and total Budget: The study will be conducted from from March to June 2016 .To complete this project a total 21,755 Ethiopian birr is required	en_US

Good information exposure related to transmission, prevention, and risk factors of COVID-19 can be the best means to reduce the risk of disease exposure and mitigate further spread. The countries that have well practiced this strategy (society information exposure) were controlling disease progression, but there is a low practice in sub-Saharan countries, including Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the information exposure level about COVID-19 and influencing factors among northwest community of Ethiopia. Methods and Materials: Community-based cross-sectional study design was employed among the community of Gondar city from April 20 to 27, 2020. A total of 623 study participants were involved in this interview, and a systematic sampling technique was applied to select the households. Data were entered into EpiData version 4.6 and then exported to STATA version 14 for analysis. A multivariable binary logistic regression was employed to identify factors associated with good information exposure about COVID-19. The adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) was estimated to show the strength of association. A p-value <0.05 was a cut-off point to declare statistical significance. Results: The overall rate of information exposure about COVID-19 was 44.9%. Age 18–26 years [AOR=0.53; 95% CI (0.28–0.99)] and 34–45 years [AOR=0.44; 95% CI (0.24–0.80)], elementary school [AOR=2.48; 95% CI (1.20–5.15)], secondary school [AOR=3.98; 95% CI (1.99–7.99)], college and above [AOR=8.38; 95% CI (4.10–17.26)], browsed or follow social media [AOR=2.21; 95% CI (1.44–3.38)] and those having a discussion with their family members [AOR=2.37; 95% CI (1.44–3.90)] and friends [AOR=2.15; 95% CI (1.38–3.34)] were the factors significantly associated with good information exposure towards COVID-19. Conclusion: Communities total level of good information exposure from different information platforms about COVID-19 in this study area remains low. Age, high level of education, browsing social media, and those having interpersonal (family and friends) discussion were the factors that significantly influence communities who have good information exposure related to COVID-19. Therefore, efforts on community mobilization through regional/ national mass media and other information conveying platforms are recommended. In Ethiopia, there is no comprehensive research that presents the whole picture of HAIs in hospitals. The objective of this study was to examine the nature and extent of HAIs in Ethiopia. Methods: A repeated cross-sectional study was conducted in two teaching hospitals. All eligible inpatients admitted for at least 48 hours on the day of the survey were included. The survey was conducted in dry and wet seasons of Ethiopia, that is, in March to April and July 2015. Physicians and nurses collected the data according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention definition of HAIs. Coded and cleaned data were transferred to SPSS 21 and STATA 13 for analysis. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to examine the prevalence of HAIs and relationship between explanatory and outcome variables. Results: A total of 908 patients were included in this survey, the median age of the patients was 27 years (interquartile range: 16–40 years). A total of 650 (71.6%) patients received antimicrobials during the survey. There were 135 patients with HAI, with a mean prevalence of 14.9% (95% confidence interval 12.7–17.1). Culture results showed that Klebsiellaspp. (22.44%) and Staphylococcus aureus(20.4%) were the most commonly isolated HAI-causing pathogens in these hospitals. The association of patient age and hospital type with the occurrence of HAI was statistically significant. Conclusion: It was observed that the prevalence of HAI was high in the teaching hospitals. Surgical site infections and pneumonia were the most common types of HAIs. Hospital management should give more attention to promoting infection prevention practice for better control of HAIs in teaching hospitals. Background: Obstetric fistula is a maternal morbidity creating devastating health problems for the women. Continuous and uncontrollable leaking of urine or faeces from vagina can lead to life changing stigmatization for women in third world countries. The underlying factors and consequences of this problem are not yet fully identified and adequately documented in Ethiopia. Methods: This study is based on the Ethiopian Demographic and Health Survey data (EDHS, 2005). The survey collected information on a total of 14,070 women who were interviewed face to face on their background characteristics as well as reproductive health issues, out of which 3178 women had complete measurements and were considered in this study. Descriptive and binary logistic regressions techniques were used using demographic, socio-economic, health and environmental related variables as explanatory variables and status of obstetric fistula as a response variable. Results: The results showed that geographical region, place of residence, educational status, age at first birth, age at first marriage, employment status, place of delivery and follow up of antenatal care during pregnancy were significant determinant factors of obstetric fistula in Ethiopia. Conclusion: The study showed that demographic, socio-economic, environmental and health related variables have an important effect on determinants of obstetric fistula in Ethiopia.
