dc.description.abstract Abstract Introduction: Musculoskeletal disorders are serious problems that every human being would experience at least once in a life time. Worldwide, around 1.5 million of vehicles maintenances workshops workers are exposed to chemical agents, ergonomics problem and work-related disorders. In Ethiopia, there is no evidence on the Work-related exposure for development of musculoskeletal disorder in vehicle maintenance workshops. Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence and associated factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorder among vehicle maintenances workshop workers in Adama town, Ethiopia, 2018. Methods: Institution based cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the samples of 428 participants. Data were collected through the face to face interview administered questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using binary logistic regression analysis to identify a significant association between different independent variables and outcome variable. A significant association was calculated at p-value <0.05 with 95%CI and odds ratios. Result: Response rate was 410 (95.8%). The prevalence of work related musculoskeletal disorders among vehicle maintenance workers was found to be 51.5% in the last 12 months. The risk factors of the WMSDs that were identified as lifting heavy object [AOR:3.5, 95%CI(1.452,8.586)], professional training [AOR:0.562,95%CI(0.37,0.910)] and monthly salary [AOR:2.4 ,95%CI(1.672,3.841)]. Conclusion and Recommendation: Based on findings of this study, there is significant prevalence and associated factors of musculoskeletal disorders in vehicle maintenance workers. Owners and governmental bodies should focus on preventive strategies and safety guidelines in order to prevent workers from occupational diseases.
