dc.description.abstract Abstract Introduction: Personal protective equipment utilization in the manufacturing industry is an important issue because one of the top ten fatality rate is due to lack of Personal protective equipment utilization among all industries worldwide and millions of workers suffer by non-fatal injuries and illnesses. Objective: To assess personal protective equipment utilization and associated factor among Komebolcha textile workers in Komebolcha Town; North East Ethiopia Method and materials: An institution based quantitative cross- sectional study was conducted on 404 production workers in Komebolcha textile factory north east Ethiopia from February 01, 2016 to March 30/ 2016. Stratified sampling technique was used to select the study participant. A pre- tested and structured observational questionnaires and checklist were used to collect data. EPi Info version 3.5.4 is used to data entry where as SPSS version 20.0 is used to data analysis. Bivariate and multivariate analysis was employed to see the effect of each explanatory variable on the dependant variable. Result: The magnitude of personal protective equipment utilization was 58.2% [95%CI:(53.0 , 62.6)]. work regulation [AOR:3.0,95%CI:(1.04 , 4.90)], safety training [AOR:5.10,95%CI:(3.14,8.28)], drinking alcohol [AOR:2.85,95%CI:(1.73,4.67)], work section [AOR:4.27,95%CI:(1.52,12.08)] were factors significantly associated with utilization of personal protective equipment. Conclusion and Recommendation: utilization of personal protective equipment was low among production workers. Work regulation, work section, safety training and drink alcohol were statically significantly association with utilization of personal protective equipment.
