dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study was to investigate the preparation and utilization of instructional media for training pre-primary school prospective teachers in Amhara National Regional State Colleges of Teachers Education. A total of 105 respondents were selected and administered with questionnaire and interview items to respond. Colleges were selected by using simple random sampling method. From the selected colleges a respondents were selected using comprehensive sampling method. Pilot testing was conducted before the final data gathering has taken place. In the study explanatory research design was used. One sample t-test, stepwise multiple regression, Pearson product moment correlation and one-way ANOVA were among the analysis techniques used in the study. As a result, it was found out that teacher educators have favorable attitude towards instructional media preparation and utilization. The level of production and availability of instructional media, and the financial and administrative support delivered in strengthening the preparation and utilization of instructional media is poor. The habit of teacher educators in using instructional media in teaching preprimary school prospective teachers is not as required. There is also significant difference in the utilization of instructional media between male and female teacher educators in favor of male teacher educators. It was also identified that there is significant correlation between utilization of instructional media, production of instructional media and administrative and financial support. Both teacher educators’ scores on the measures of production of instructional media, and financial and administrative support explained 70.4 % of the variances in utilization of instructional media. Recommendations were also forwarded based on findings. en_US
