Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to assess theSocio Economic and Psychological Effect of
High Conflict Divorce against Child Progress, the Case of Child Welfare (et Projects)
Beneficiaries, Gondar”.Mixed research approach was chosen to conduct the study which
involved the collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data. The study
employedcross-sectional type of study in view of time frame by which data were collected
once at a certain specific point of time. A concurrent study design was used that helped to
collect data concurrently in a given a priority. Population of the study were 753 child welfare
projects’ beneficiary children and 3 project coordinators that totally accounted for 756in
Gondar city. Hence, samples to the study were selected from the population of the study
using purposive sampling technique regarding the coordinators by which all (3) were
included in the sample; and 261 sample children were selected using simple random sampling
technique. In order to efficiently accomplish data gathering task, the researcher discussed
with the participants to arrange programs convenient to all. All participants were also
provided with sufficient orientation. Data were collected using questionnaire and focus group
discussion from the children and interview from the coordinators. Data wereanalyzed using
both quantitative and qualitative analysis technique. The quantitative data were analyzed
percentage analysis technique and the qualitative data were analyzed thematically in
accordance with the objectives of the study. The findings obtained from the quantitative data
all the social, economic and psychological variables studied in this study affect the progress
of children from divorced parents. The findings obtained from the qualitative data were
similarly found and indicated that the participant children felt affected due to the divorce of
their parents and this was supported by the interviewees.
