THE BIOGRAPHY OF DӒJJAZEMACH DAṄӒW TӒSӒMMA FROM 1905 -1961

Abstract

The purpose of the thesis attempts to examine the biography of Dӓjjazmach Daṅӓw Tӓsӓmma from his birth in 1905 to his death 1961. The study was bounded in the event of his life before, during the Italian invasion and career of Dӓjjazmach Daṅӓw in the post liberation period. The study conducted the qualitative research method. To carry out the study written sources as well as informants were used. To write this thesis efforts have been made to gain archival materials in order to support the information thus gain from my informants until I went to NALA but I am not gain Archival sources define about him. So that the study depend upon largely information from different individuals sometimes who have a direct line age in his historical events. The data obtained from different informants cross checked by secondary sources that were obtained from Gondӓr Patriotic Office, Gondӓr Public Library, Addis Ababa University, Bahir Dar University, and the available materials that obtained from the market and from individuals. Based on the above sources Dӓjjazmach Daṅӓw Tӓsӓmma was one of the courageous patriots in general the BӓgéMder and particularly in to Quliqual Bӓr at Gondӓr Zuria specifically Bӓlӓsa district, beside to this he also engaged in the war of Libo kémkém, Ebinat and Dabratӓbor. During the five year resistance against fascist occupation Dӓjjazmach Daṅӓw deed a commemorated event in his better fighting and military tactics experience that motivated not only the peoples of Bӓlӓsa but also Ebinat, Libo Este and BӓgéMder. He became a strong patriotic leader in this region and able to liberate these areas from fascist force. In addition after the liberation period he also participated in various government positions. In such he opposed the Imperial policies and government systems.
