dc.description.abstract Mental illness and social health issues are an increasing part of the health burden on every part of the globe. Family members play an integral role as informal careers for the person with mental illness and have been consistently reported to experience high levels of care burden. This research examined psychosocial burden and coping mechanism among schizophrenia, bipolar, and depression caregivers of mentally ill patient in Ammanueal Mental Specialize Hospital. Using stratified random sampling technique, a total of 311 caregivers were selected. Burden of care (BOC) and coping mechanism instrument used for data collection. The result indicated that 188 (60.45%) of participants found to have psychosocial burden. Independent sample t-test also indicated that, there is significant mean difference in the level of psychosocial burden between male and female respondents. However, the result indicated that there is no a statistical significance mean difference in the level of psychosocial burden across caregivers of schizophrenia, bipolar, and depression mentally ill patient. One-way ANOVA result also indicated that there is a significant mean difference in the level of psychosocial burden across different educational status. One-way ANOVA also revealed that, the level of psychosocial burden found to be significant across marital status. Being caregiver for mentally ill patient, psychological and psychosocial challenges are the major problem of caregivers of mentally ill patient in the study area. en_US
