dc.description.abstract The right to adequate housing is one among the social rights in which everyone is entitled to. Nowadays the demand for housing and sheltering is ever increasing. Especially the high population movement from rural to urban areas is aggravating the demand for houses. The construction of the so called “Yechreka Bets” is becoming a bone of contention between the Ethiopian government, Federal and states, and the constructers. The Gondar city is not an exception in this regard. The study gathers qualitative data from the participants such as local residents, government officials and quantitative data from government offices as to number of households and population. I used interview, questionnaire, observation and different analysis of data collection tools. At final, the research winds up with possible solutions and recommendations which are vital for alleviating the problem at hand. en_US
