Abstract:
The objective of the study was assessment of teachers’ involvement in SIP implementation in
Banjawereda at Kidamaja General primary school. The researcher used case study design mixed
approach. Both primary and secondary source of data were used. Primary source of data were
gathered from teachers, department heads and secondary sources of data from written document
which were related to the study problem and other sources like library books and internet were
used.35 teachers and 10 department heads were selected by using comprehensive sampling
techniques. Data were collected through questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The main
findings of the study were the following regarding factors affecting teachers’ involvement in SIP
implementation; lack of awareness, lack of motivation, lack of training and lack of resources but
lack of stakeholder involvement and negative factors for teachers’ participation in SIP by
principal’s related factors were a medium causes of the problem. regarding teachers’
involvement in SIP implementation: They Involved in any co-curricular activities, they are
volunteer to share their experience of teaching to their friends, prepare weekly and annual plan
based on guidelines, using different assessment methods to assess students learning needs in
order to meet diverse needs of students in classroom, and teachers know very well the school
policy, rule, regulation and procedures, but teachers were not much confident whether their
students achieve better or not on their subject and teachers were not participating in decision
making in the school. Finally the study recommends the woreda education office should prepare
training for the preparation and implementation of school improvement plan, The woreda
education office should be supervise and monitor the school about their implementation of the
school improvement plan according to the standards, The school principals should give attention
to planning and initiate commitment to school improvement plan, the school principal should be
communicating with stake holders about the priority of school improvement plan before
performed because it was easy to involve in implementation.
