Abstract:
The study's main objective was to determine how changes in land cover and use affected the rate
of sedimentation. Data on crop cover management, rainfall, soil texture, topography, LULC
change, watershed, and support practice factor were included to the models using GIS and
InVEST .the result of sedimentation; a river's incoming sediment load builds up gradually over
time. Alterations in LULC can have negative effects on reservoirs' surface water supplies,
including soil erosion and silt buildup that lowers the reservoirs' capacity and compromises
their overall effectiveness. On the LULC map of the year 2003 to 2013 crops coverage reduced
to 5.65% and year 2013to 2023 crops coverage reduced to 3.63% the total area of reduced in
2003 to 2023 is 9.28% in 20years. In 2013 water 1184.31Ha, Forest 131.15 Ha, Crops 89449.82
Ha, Flooded vegetation 1184.90 Ha and Built up area7 139.10 Ha respectively. In 2023 the
area coverage is water 1350.78 Ha, Forest 1004.78 Ha, Crops 93138.87 Ha, Flooded vegetation
1532.86 Ha, Built up area 10456.79 Ha, Pasture Land 1143.89Ha respectively. So from the
results water flooded vegetation, built up and pasture land in each 10th years and forest and
crops are decreased in each 10th years
